The Enneagram integrates two radically different levels of information. The first describes the horizontal world of type played out in daily living, yet just a slight shift of attention can turn the conversation to firsthand accounts of humanity’s vertical axis. Stories of unity emerge, where time recedes and we participate with the objects of our attention instead of being separate from them.
This workshop is focused on intuition, a non-dual state in which the knower and the known unite as a single awareness. You will track your own faculties of inner knowing through dyad exercises, breakout groups, personal practice and hearing how intuition plays out for different types of people.
Twos for instance, can find themselves “becoming” the qualities that others need, Eights can “match” the energetic power of their surroundings, Nines can forget themselves by “merging” with the lives of others, and so forth for each perspective.
Without necessarily realizing it, the types are announcing their participation in a world of impressions received from the people around them. They are telling us that non-duality is very close, that intuition is bound to our type in such an intrinsic way that we take it entirely for granted.
We will apply both psychological and spiritual method to key intuitive questions. The first is the split between active and receptive awareness. The second is projection, which requires us to discriminate between thought, fantasies directed by thinking, and accurate intuition arising from unity. The third is projective identification as a model for receiving impressions that cannot be grasped by intellect or analysis.
Please be aware that this is advanced material. To find it useful you need a good grasp of your own type structure and stability of awareness from prior meditation practice.
