Overview
The four-section Enneagram Professional Training Program™ (EPTP) is designed for those who would like to pursue teacher certification or use the Enneagram in their professional practice or workplace. Section 1, the Enneagram Intensive™, is a six-day foundational program that we also offer as a stand-alone workshop. This course is open to anyone with some prior knowledge of the Enneagram who wants to participate in an intensive growth process in a safe and receptive community dedicated to diversity.
Who should attend
• Anyone on a path of personal transformation
• Therapists, counselors, physicians, nurses
• Business managers, coaches, trainers
• Spiritual directors and clergy
• Teachers and parents
We teach in the Narrative Tradition of people speaking on their own behalf. We have found that the most effective way to teach the Enneagram and recognize personality differences is through people speaking from their own experience. Much of the learning happens when participants are seated with people of the same type, sharing their insights and personal stories.
The panel interviews bring the Enneagram alive through meaningful conversation and insights. To create a powerful immersion experience, we combine our teachings in the Narrative Tradition with informative lectures, self-observation practices, group exercises by type, guided interactions, movement practices, psychological practices, and deep personal inquiry and reflection.
Graduates of the Enneagram Intensive™ are eligible to join the Association of Enneagram Teachers in the Narrative Tradition (AETNT) as associate members. Upon completion of all four EPTP segments, certified teachers may become professional members. All members receive admission to the annual conference, membership directory, subscription to the quarterly journal/newsletter, TALK, and personal and professional networking opportunities.

Curriculum
Section 1: The Enneagram Intensive™
A five-day course integrating psychological life and spirit
Also offered as a stand-alone workshop, the Enneagram Intensive™ offers a full examination of the structure and psychodynamics of the nine personality types, including the basic proposition, instinctual subtypes, patterns of personal reactivity and defense mechanisms. Participants focus on personal development and relationship issues with other types through self-inquiry, process interactions and specific strategies for change. Facilitators may include David Daniels, Peter O’Hanrahan and/or Terry Saracino, depending on location. Helen Palmer is present through a recorded set of 12 powerful guided meditations. Learn more about the Enneagram Intensive™ or see current schedule.
Section 2: Foundations of Spiritual Method and the Typing Process
A six-day course (or three days for Spiritual Method only)
The first three days, Foundations of Spiritual Method, is taught by Helen Palmer and Terry Saracino. It focuses on type structure as a means of spiritual evolution. The panel method in the Narrative Tradition is used to demonstrate how to unite psychological self-observation with spiritual method to further one’s development and integration. This segment of the EPTP curriculum is open to the public as a stand-alone workshop.
The second three days, The Typing Process, brings instruction and practice in typing and panel interviewing, with special attention to distinguishing among types using verbal, non-verbal and observational cues. Participants have a rare hands-on opportunity to develop their Enneagram interviewing skills with coaching and feedback.

Section 3: The Internship Process
Typing and panel interviews – offsite supervised practicum
Each student selects a supervisor or mentor from the program and conducts 18 typing interviews and two panel practice sessions, half of which are coached by the supervisor or mentor. These sessions focus on both technical skills and self-management of the interview and inquiry process. This one-on-one relationship with an experienced certified teacher provides an excellent context for further learning and practice. Each student also completes a review and submits it to the supervisor for assessment and feedback prior to attending Section 4.
Section 4: Professional Certification
Six-day course (repeat of The Enneagram Intensive™ as a certifying candidate)
This repeat of the Enneagram Intensive™ offers a full examination of the structure and dynamics of the types. During the first round of panels, candidates for teacher certification conduct interviews with support and feedback from staff. Candidates also demonstrate typing skills and receive additional instruction. The second round of panels further integrates the material. Graduates receive a Certificate of Completion and are eligible to use the Licensed Teaching Materials Package.

Testimonials
“The training weeks were challenging, yet immensely rewarding. The program revitalized our already enduring relationship, increasing understanding and compassion for habitual behaviors. Our only sadness is that NO words can do justice to what we experienced. A truly watershed adventure!”
I.R. and H.L., business consultants
“As a licensed clinical psychologist for 20 years, I have attended numerous workshops, classes and training throughout my career. Never have I come across an opportunity for both personal and professional growth anything like what is offered in the Enneagram Professional Training Program. Far beyond advancing my clinical skills, this program has helped me move forward as a full human being.”
D.S., clinical psychologist
“The training was a huge turning point for me. The experience clarified and deepened the self-awareness I had been working toward for some time. I was able to see others and myself in a far more realistic and compassionate way. Even better, I learned how to combine this awareness with relaxation techniques from my meditation practice. I actually changed.”
T.B., attorney
