In this holistic approach to the Enneagram, we will explore the nine character structures and the somatic patterns that shape them.

  • Neurobiology and temperament for each type
  • Nine somatic structures and the defenses
  • Breathing patterns and conscious breathing practice for each type
  • The nine types and patterns of body armor: how withheld emotions lead to chronic tension or numbness and restrict our breathing
  • Managing stress and tension in daily life
  • How the body types – ectomorph, endomorph, mesomorph – influence the personality type
  • Non-verbal communication from each Enneagram type
  • Stretching and breathing chair exercises

The format: each class will have a 90-minute presentation with room for questions and comments, followed by 15-20 minute breakout groups for discussion, and a final 10-minute wrap up. The 90-minute presentation will be recorded and sent to everyone each week, along with the class powerpoint slides.

About the Instructor

Peter O’Hanrahan: I have been working with the Enneagram since 1978, applying the Enneagram in my holistic counseling and bodywork practice. Many years of hands-on experience have given me a deep appreciation of how the nine type structures are based in three centers – body, heart and mind – and the importance of working with all three on the path of growth. I have taught the Embodied Enneagram workshop in the US, Europe, and Asia. While limited by the online format, there’s still plenty to learn about this holistic approach!
